Chinese Medicine

This ancient system of medicinal healing has been thoroughly documented and refined from direct clinical experience over these past 2000 years. Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine are unique and truly holistic treatments with profound therapeutic effects upon the bodymindspirit.

Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs are extremely effective in treating many categories of diseases but also those conditions whereby people feel unwell, stressed or generally below par but are unable to identify their condition or categorise it into an orthodox named disease.

Chinese Medicine is also preventative medicine in that its effect can allay diseases before they manifest in the body. It also has a proven beneficial effect upon the immune system by inducing a stimulating, catalysing effect which encourages the body to heal itself.

The efficacy of Chinese Medicine treatment allows the flow of Qi energy (pronounced chee) and Blood to be nourished and restored, thereby inducing harmony of the bodymindspirit resulting in the reactivation of natural zest, vitality and health.

The impact of Chinese Medicine treatment also allows for an ease of change to occur in most lifestyle habits. In general an overall shedding of self imposed limitations can occur. Subsequently, a greater sense of inherent worth, inner power and confidence with an emergence of a capacity to realise and activate one's own full potential can be realised.

In my practice over these past thirteen years I have witnessed many such dramatic therapeutic changes impacting upon the bodymindspirit of my patients.

Acupuncture

The insertion of very fine needles through the skin into the energy channels of the body regulates the Qi (chee) and Blood restoring its natural flow rectifying any imbalances. For particular acupuncture points are chosen for their effect which can directly target and stimulate the functioning of specific organs of the body. This energetic flow can be impeded by numerous factors such as climate, trauma, poor nutrition or disturbing emotional states such as excess or inappropriate anger, grief, fear, or shock, anxiety and stress. As a practitioner I am always amazed to witness the immedicacy of acupuncture 's therapeutic effect upon the bodymindspirit.

Please be assured that I follow stringent standards of hygiene and procedures approved by the Department of Health in that all the needles I use are sterilised and disposed of after usage for each patient.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

All the herbs I prescribe are imported directly from China by reputable suppliers which have very high standards of quality control in situ and adhere to strict guidelines set world-wide forbidding the use of any type of endangered species. The herbs consist mainly of various components of plants and trees such as roots, bark, stems, leaves, flowers and seeds.

The ingestion of these herbs can be taken in various ways either boiled to make a decoction and then drunk as a tea or taken in the form of capsules, pills, powders or tinctures.

Initially the taste of the herbs can seem strange but the taste becomes acquired very quickly, especially when the therapeutic benefits are experienced.

To ensure the welfare of my patients I monitor them very closely for any possible side effects to the herbs even though adverse reactions when compared to orthodox drugs are extremely rare.

I am a member of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine which regulates the practice of Chinese herbal medicine in the UK to ensure high standards of education and safe practice.
